Matthew studied his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science at University of Bath. As part of his degree, he undertook a year-long placement working within Nigel Bunnett’s lab at Columbia University, New York. His research there involved the targeted activation of opioid receptors within endosomes.
Matthew’s major research interest lies in understanding the neural mechanisms involved in enacting behaviours. As such, he now work as a research assistant in Marcus Stephenson-Jones’ lab where he works on projects which aim to understand the neurocircuitry involved in associative learning and the role of the basal ganglia.
