Eleni Amaniti

Eleni Amaniti is Head of the Neurobiological Research Facility at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre.

She trained as a veterinary surgeon and went on to complete a PhD in Developmental Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh. Her previous experience includes postdoctoral research in enteric neuroscience at both the National Institute for Medical Research and the Francis Crick Institute, where she also worked as a laboratory animal veterinarian.

This cross-disciplinary experience supports her interest in developing practical welfare-focused systems that support high-quality neuroscience, strengthen the 3Rs and improve communication between researchers and animal care teams.
