Jake Laherty

Jake completed a BSc at the University of Sydney in January 2025 with majors in the schools of Neuroscience and Computer Science--a pathway designed to give a rounded perspective on intelligence, both natural and artificial. After an internship at the Gatsby Unit, he began his doctoral studies with Agostina Palmigiano and Tiago Branco in September 2025, aiming to continue this dual approach to intelligence. Today he is researching tools developed in statistical physics and their applications to understanding the learning of ‘modular’ representations in machines, and representations of space in mice.
