Neuronauts School Club 2024

We are excited to host another School Club for secondary school students from the Greater London area. The School Club is part of the Neuronauts programme at SWC which is built on the principles of increasing accessibility, excitement, and career prospects in science.

This year's Neuronauts After School club will focus on coding and software design: we will learn to use Python (a high-level, general-purpose programming language) to build simple web or phone applications. For this, we will learn how read in data, to design a user interface, and how to make the program respond. Like last year, the goal will be to submit one or several projects to the Big Bang Competition.

When is the School Club 2024?

Neuronauts School Club 2024 will take place from 12 - 4pm on the following Saturdays:

  • Saturday 13 January
  • Saturday 27 January
  • Saturday 10 February
  • Saturday 24 February
  • Saturday 9 March
  • Saturday 23 March

Each session will include a short science talk, free lunch and project work. Between meetings, we will also offer weekly check-ins via the Discord App. You will need access to a computer either at home or school to continue project work.

Am I eligible to apply?

Students aged between 13-17 years attending a state school (or home-schooled) in the Greater London area are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who meet our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) criteria.

We want to help as many people as possible who are underrepresented in science. If you are in doubt whether you would be considered, we recommend applying.

How to apply

To apply, please fill in the application form.

If you have any questions, or need help completing the form, please contact Svenja Nierwetberg.
